Lester Harnetiaux, BCHS President 2012-2015

On February 18, 2015 BCHS President Lester Harnetiaux passed away suddenly. He was 57. Lester was in his third term as Society President. He was also Vice President of the Bond County Genealogical Society as well as a member of the Greenville Bicentennial Board. Lester was owner of Bond County Realtors and Tri-County Appraisal Services. He was also active in many organizations including the Greenville College Alumni Board, Greenville Lions Club, BCCU #2 Academic Foundation, Greenville Chamber of Commerce, Heartland Conservancy Board, First Christian Church Youth Volunteer, and was Township Assessor for Mills, Tamalco, and Mulberry Grove. Additionally, Lester was an avid Greenville High School Comets fan and attended many games.

Lester was a lifelong historian and collector of local memorabilia. He had a huge collection of postcards, pictures, and advertising items. He also collected art from local artists and owned many paintings, prints, watercolors, drawings, and photos.

The Bond County Historical Society offers condolences to Lester’s family, friends, and co-workers. We had a display on his life at the Hoiles-Davis Museum during the 2015 season.
